Permit and zoning requirements vary by location. Before installing a gazebo, pavilion, pergola, or other backyard structure, check with your local municipality for requirements that apply to your property. Visit our FAQs for more information about preparing for a new structure.

Outdoor structures should be selected with Midwest weather in mind, including seasonal rain, wind, snow, and temperature changes. Countryside Barns offers outdoor living structures designed for long-term outdoor use, with different materials and styles available depending on your needs.

Financing options are available for qualifying projects through Countryside Barns. Visit our financing page to learn more about available financing and the application process.

The right size depends on how you plan to use the space. A smaller structure may work well for a seating or dining area, while larger pavilions and gazebos provide more room for entertaining, outdoor kitchens, or larger gatherings. Consider your available backyard space and the furniture or features you want underneath the structure.

Placement depends on your property’s layout and how you want to use the structure. Popular locations include patios, pool areas, gardens, and dedicated backyard entertaining spaces. You should also consider property lines, utilities, site preparation, and any local zoning or permit requirements.

Countryside Barns has a variety of resources for planning outdoor spaces. Start with our guide to different types of backyard structures to compare gazebos, pavilions, and pergolas, and find the right fit for your property.

Consider your children’s ages, available yard space, desired activities, and the surface where the playset will be installed. It’s also important to choose an appropriate location with adequate clearance around the playset and consider how Midwest weather may affect year-round care and maintenance.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have two buildings from Countryside Barns on my property. The first one is a lofted garden shed purchased a delivered in 2016. The second is a garage purchased in 2023. The second was originally going to be a small 8’X12’ garden shed. Due to a variance requirement with the city, I was not able to place the small garden shed in the respectable place I selected on my property. Countryside Barns was understanding, I put a halt on the order 6 days after placing it. Thank you, Jessica! I selected a new location on my property and was able to go bigger 14’X32’. I also decided to go with a portable garage vs a garden shed. With a copy of the approved permit and my down payment I signed the contract. With both buildings I have had a few issues but they were taken care of. EDIT: Photos are from months later, they did not install rock, landscaping, gutters, concrete, or electrical.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Both the product and the installation process exceeded all expectations! Everything was done exactly when they said it would be, and the quality of construction is exceptional. Patrick made the delivery and checked leveling very carefully and even took the time to add a couple bumpers to the door and touch up paint on the base or at a tiny scratch from installation. This shed is certainly built to last!
